BRC and Diverse Supplier Initiative Update

As part of the Diverse Supplier Initiative that is one of the Alliance for Diversity and Inclusion FY16 goals, there is an ongoing partnership with the Johnson Graduate School of Management (JGSM) to assist diverse suppliers with projects to help them grow their business. This partnership with JGSM allows for Big Red Consulting (BRC) teams to work with selected suppliers on specific projects that align with supplier needs and the graduate student skill sets.

Starting this past fall, representatives from JGSM, BRC, faculty advisors, and Procurement Services met to discuss the program and discuss “lessons learned” as well as process improvements which could be implemented for the future programs. For FY16, the participating diverse suppliers include Roberts Office Interiors (roi), Laboratory Product Sales (LPS), Stovroff, Taylor Travel (STT), and The Presentation Source. Initial meetings to discuss the projects in more detail have occurred and the formal contracts between the suppliers, BRC teams, and Procurement Services have been completed.

Each team will have four student team members and a director, who will be responsible for leading the team. The team members are graduate students, not only from JGSM, but also from the ILR and Engineering graduate programs as well. The first deliverables will occur early in 2016 and the final presentations will occur in May with senior staff leadership and JGSM faculty and staff in attendance.
